I recently got my little girl a set of building bricks to review that form a sand castle so when I saw this, I knew it was destined for her, much to my son’s chagrin. I have previous experience with Brickyard so I knew to expect quality and I was not disappointed.

Now that we’ve gotten the legal stuff out of the way, onward!
I’ve been fortunate enough to able to test out this baseplate in two colors, sand and green, so this review applies to both.
The LEGO Compatible Brick Building Baseplate by Brickyard measures a cool 10″ x 10″ and is made out the same quality of plastic as LEGO. They are almost indistinguishable unless you look for the logo on the studs. These are also great to make multiple tiers since the underside can be used with the bricks as well to connect with underneath.
They are awesome for tray / table-making since they don’t have an extra lip at the edges and align very well which kind of surpass LEGO in that aspect. I’ve been wanting to gather enough of the “surfaces” or “biomes” to make a world for them: green for grass, grey for city or concrete, blue for water and this one for sand. I kind of just need at least white for snow for now and they can make more complete creations or scenarios.
I also reviewed Brickyard’s 275-brick set! Read all about it here.
